EDWARD LEON RAMSEY, age 84, of Churubusco, died on Friday, May 15, 2015 at home.  Mr. Ramsey was born in Seminole, West Virginia on November 14, 1930 to the late Letcher Hobart Ramsey and Nannie Belle (Pack) Ramsey.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, Harbor Defense Unit in Washington, for four years during the Korean War.  He married Irvanna Marie Walker Ramsey on February 10, 1953 in Port Angeles, Washington.  Edward was a railroader with Pennsylvania, Penn-Central and Conrail Railroad for more than 40 years.  He was a signal communication maintaince electrician before retiring in 1990.  He was a farmer and he loved gardening, woodworking and his church.  He was a devoted husband and loving father.  Ed was a life member of the Quilcene-Jefferson Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge 107 in Quilcene, Washington.  He was an honorary member of the Churubusco Masonic Lodge 515 and a 32nd and 33rd degree Master Mason with the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite.  He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Garrett

Wife, Irvanna Ramsey of Churubusco.
Son, Kenneth Wayne and Susan Ramsey of Fort Wayne.
Son, Leonard Keith and Janet Ramsey of Churubusco.
Son, Edward Kerwin and Lise Ramsey of Churubusco.
Son, Kelvin Allen and Robin Ramsey of Churubusco.
Daughter, Ruth Ann and Robert Earls of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Juanita Lynn and Nick Gordon of Churubusco.
21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren
Sister, Ruth Thomas of Forest Hill, West Virginia.
Brother, Ronald and Marian Ramsey of Columbus, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kelsie and brothers; Jefferson, James, Siebert, and Richard Ramsey.


Visitation will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 2-4:00pm and 6-8:00pm at the First Baptist Church, 1357 South Randolph Street in Garrett, Indiana.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 10:00am at the First Baptist Church in Garrett.  There will be one hour of calling before the service.  Officiating the funeral service will be Reverend David Mix.  There will be a luncheon immediately following the funeral service at the church.

Burial with military honors will be at 2:00pm at Marion National Cemetery, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion, Indiana.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Garrett.
