GARY DEAN WYMER, age 68, of Avilla, died on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at his home. Mr. Wymer was born in Kendallville, Indiana on April 19, 1946 to the late Charles and Esther (Aukerman) Wymer. Gary graduated from Kendallville High School in 1964 and St. Francis College in Fort Wayne with a business degree. He was a United States Navy veteran. On October 9, 1981, he married Carol Ann Deam in Fort Wayne. Gary was a firefighter for the City of Fort Wayne for 32 years and a member of the Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters Union. He retired in 2007. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and First Christian Church in Kendallville. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and attending all of his grandchildren's activities and events. He loved making maple syrup, traveling, woodworking, reading and writing stories. Gary was a sports fan, and he enjoyed history and trivia.

Wife, Carol Wymer of Avilla.
Daughter, Angela and Michael Toles of Kendallville.
Daughter, Leslie and Kerry Peel of Auburn.
Daughter, Kristin Gantz of West Chester, Ohio.
Son, Nathan and Shannon Wymer of Cary, North Carolina.
Nine grandchildren: Jonathan Toles, Sarah Toles, Jillian Peel, Jack Peel, Justin Schwartz, Mia Alikhan, Maddie Wymer, Laney Wymer, and Emmi Wymer.
Brother, Richard and Sharon Wymer of Huntington.
Brother, Charles and Gloria Wymer of Churubusco.
Sister, Ruth Austin of Fort Wayne.
Sister, Patricia and Robert Easterday of Kendallville.
Sister, Nancy and Robert Myers of Cortland, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Shirley Lobdell and brother, Dennis Wymer.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-8:00pm at Hite Funeral Home and Thursday one hour before the service.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 12 noon at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Dr. Thomas Clothier.
Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
Preferred memorials may be made to First Christian Church youth ministries or Fort Wayne Professional Fire Fighters Local 124 - Fallen Heroes Fund.
