Welcome to the memorial page for

Neva Musselman

December 18, 1919 ~ April 26, 2016 (age 96) 96 Years Old

NEVA EVALYN MUSSELMAN, age 96, of Kendallville, died on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.  Mrs. Musselman was born in Green Township, Noble County, Indiana on December 18, 1919 to the late Homer Eugene and Bertha Ellen (Diffendarfer) Herendeen. She married Charles Everett Musselman on November 23, 1946 in Churubusco.  He preceded her in death on March 28, 1998.  Neva worked at General Electric during WWII and built airplane engines.  They were known as "Rosie The Rivetors".  Along with her husband, she owned the House of Spirits in Albion for 25 years.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kendallville.

We are certainly going to miss Neva.  She was a loving mom, a remarkable mother-in-law, a sweet, gentle grandma and great grandma, a special aunt and sister-in-law.
Neva had many talents and hobbies.  Her pride was a wood shop in her home.  Charlie and her made unique and fun gifts for the family.  Her true passion was crocheting.  She made many gorgeous afghans for her church bazaars.  If there was a fundraiser, you could be sure that a beautiful afghan would be donated.  She didn’t need to personally know the family because Neva had such a kind heart.

She put a garden out every year until she was 91 and she didn’t like weeds in it either!  We all appreciated the canned vegetables at her Sunday dinners of homemade beef and noodles. Neva was like a road atlas, she could tell you every major highway and through which state it took you.  She probably had traveled it!  She was fortunate to have been able to visit every state in the U.S. and part of Europe.  She loved nature, especially birds.  If her hands weren’t busy, she was enjoying a good book.  But mostly, Neva loved her family.  She so enjoyed company and all of her grandchildren through the years.  Unquestionably, she was a lovely and kind person.  We love you Neva and thank you for making our lives happier.

Survivors include:
Daughter, Glenda Lou and John Kobiela of St. Paris, Ohio.
Son, Dennis and Pam Musselman of Kendallville.
11 Grandchildren and 28 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Sisters-in-law, JoAnn Herendeen of Kendallville and Rosetta Leitch of Fostoria, Ohio.

She was also preceded in death by step mother, Eliza Ann (Diffendarfer) Herendeen; son, Larry James Conrad, who died in 1941; daughter, Jo Ellen Strowmatt, who died on August 21, 2003; sisters, Lenna Leitch, Dorothy Latta, Velda Leitch, and Hilda Leitch; brothers, Elda, Garry, Lawrence, Alva, and James Herendeen; step brothers, Raliegh, William, Glenn, and Ralph Keller.
