RICHARD JOSEPH DUNNE, age 77, of McClish Lake near Hudson, died on Thursday, December 18, 2014.  Mr. Dunne was born in New York, New York on July 8, 1937 to the late Leland C. and Mildred E. (Litchfield) Dunne.  He graduated from Central Catholic High School and served his country in the United States Army.  He married Jean Ann  "Mona"  West on July 15, 1958 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. Mona preceded him in death on May 7, 2010.  Dick retired in 1991 from the Allen County Sherrif’s Department as a lieutenant detective.  He worked with the Allen Sheriff’s Department for 30 years.  Dick and Mona were part-owners of the Dari-Twist on St. Joe Road in Fort Wayne for many years. Dick loved the lake life, boating and fishing on Big Long Lake and at Palm Harbor, Florida.  He was on several bowling leagues both in the Fort Wayne/Leo area as well as in Palm Harbor, Florida.  Dick was an avid NASCAR and Notre Dame fan.  He was a member of the Kendallville VFW Post 2749 and Sons of the American Legion Post 275.

Survivors include: 
Daughter, Lori and Dan Newell of Lake of the Woods, Hudson.
Son, Jeff and Stephenie Dunne of Big Long Lake.
Son, Todd Dunne of Wolcottville.
Three grandchildren: Michael and Emily Dunne and Grace Newell.
Sister, Jacqueline Wisnieski of Grabill.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia (Charlie) Wurm

Visitation will be Monday, December 22, 2014 from 4:00-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.

Graveside services with military honors will be Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00am at Wright Cemetery near Stroh.  Military honors will be conducted by honor guard members of the Kendallville VFW Post 2749, Kendallville American Legion Post 86, Rome City American Legion Post 381, and active United States Army troops.  

To celebrate the of life of Dick Dunne, there will be a gathering of family and friends at The Woods Too immediately following the graveside service that all are welcome to attend.

Preferred memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
