RICHARD ALLEN GANGWER, age 77, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at his home in Albion.  Mr. Gangwer was born in Ligonier, Indiana on April 18, 1937 to the late Dean Gangwer and Margaret Lou (Alfrey) Rockey.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He married Patricia Ann Osborne on December 19, 1957 in Ligonier.  Richard was a heavy equipment operator with Keith Leatherman Construction in Albion for 17 years.  He also worked for Moser Tree Service of Ligonier.  His last place of employment was at Builder's Square in Fort Wayne.  Dick loved to go work each day.  He also loved to build and remodel things.  He enjoyed builing furniture, bird houses, bird feeders, and decks.  He also loved to play solitaire. 

Survivors include: 
His wife of 57 years, Patricia Ann Gangwer of Albion.
Son, Rick Gangwer of LaGrange.
Daughter, Peggy and Burnas Skaggs of Kendallville.
Son, Ken and Lisa Gangwer of Albion.
Daughter, Wendy Potter and Jody Anglin of Rome City.
Nine grandchildren: Emily Gangwer of Columbia City; Dusty Hass of Wolcottville; Marla Combs of LaGrange; Darin Skaggs of Kendallville; Korey Kreiger of Kendallville; Leslee Gangwer of Kendallville; Michael Gangwer of Albion; Morgan Potter of Rome City; and Katie Potter of Fort Wayne.
Ten great grandchildren.
Brother, Edward and Margie Rockey of LaGrange.
Sister, Judy and Russell Stump of Wawaka.

Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2015 from 2:00-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00am at Hite Funeral Home with Rev. Bret Frymier officiating.

Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Wolcottville.

Preferred memorials may be made to donor's choice.
