Virgie Ann Castle, age 74, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana following a long illness. Mrs. Castle was born February 24, 1943 in Nippa, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Ethel (Castle) Scarbury. She married Lonza Lee Castle on August 7, 1965 in Wittensville, Kentucky and he survives. Virgie worked for 25 years at King-Seely in Kendallville before retiring in 2001. Not one to sit still for very long, Virgie also delivered newspapers everyday for the Kendallville News Sun and she was a janitor at the Avilla Elementary School after she retired.
Survivors include:
Husband, Lonza Castle of Kendallville.
Son, Danny Castle of Butler and his companion, Pauletta Botteron of Kendallville.
Daughter, Debra and Kurt Starnes of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Carolyn and Conrad Honaker of Kendallville.
Son, Richard Castle of Garrett.
Nine grandchildren: Nicholas Castle, U.S. Army, Honolulu, Hawaii; Nathan Castle of Butler; Dustin Combs of Kendallville; Kayleah Smith of Fort Wayne; Zachary Castle and Heather Castle both of Auburn; Hayden Castle, Hana Castle, and Mason Castle all of Kendallville.
Four great grandchildren: Alaya Boyles, Jaxon Boyles, Zayden Secrest, and Bailey Secrest.
Brother, Arthur Scarbury of Kentucky.
Brother, Charles and Carolyn Scarbury of Kentucky.
Brother, Tommy and Susie Scarbury of Kentucky.
Sister, Betty and Alan Hinkle of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Salyers; brother, Ernest Scarbury; and a great granddaughter, Arianna Castle.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 from 4:00 -8:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Ray Tuttle officiating.
Burial will take place at Brushy Chapel Cemetery.
