I got to know Jim through my Uncle Ron and their visits to Florida. Jim and Ron would come to Florida in the spring to go to the baseball spring training games. They would stay with my parents and we would have wonderful visits. Jim and I got to have some wonderful conversations over cups of coffee in the mornings of their visits. He always took me under his wing when they were visiting and when we would all go out to dinner together Jim would always call me his date for the night. Jim was an extremely kind and generous man and he will be greatly missed.

I got to know Jim through my Uncle Ron and their visits to Florida. Ron and Jim would stay with my Parents and we would have the most wonderful visits. Jim and I got to have many great conversations over coffee I'm the mornings they were visiting and he always took me and my daughter Marian under his wing while they were here. He never let me pay for my dinner when they took us out and he always called me his date for the night. Jim was just the sweetest most genuine person I have ever known. He will be greatly missed.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to all of Jim's family. He was one of the nicest men that I've ever met; many times he went out of his way to pick me up here in Bloomington and give me a ride to Ft. Wayne. I went with him and Ron to many a ball game and we had a great time and the man would never let me spend a dime! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and I just wish that I could have said, "Goodbye."

Jim was a generous man and was always so kind to me. He would call and ask me to go to Tiger baseball games and Tin Cap games here in Fort Wayne. I remember last fall taking my nephew to a baseball game at Parkview Field in Fort Wayne and saw Jim there in his regular seat cheering on the team. He waved and smiled as he was enjoying his day. He loved his sports and IU. I enjoyed working with him for many year at the Kendallville Best Western. That is where we became friends and stayed in touch by discussing sports as he loved those Cubs!!! We went to a couple of Cub games over the years too. Rest in peace Jim, you were a good friend to me. Mark Rensberger

Jim was a very good friend and co-worker. We both worked at the Auburn DWD as well as thru the American Legion, VFW, and DAV. He was fun to be with . He had a very caring disposition and could be counted upon in times of stress. Jim will be missed by the veteran community.
