JAMES WILLIAM PIEPENBROK, age 69, of Kendallville died on Friday, March 20, 2015 in Green Valley, Arizona at his winter home.  Jim was born in New Castle, Indiana on January 19, 1946 to James W. Piepenbrok Sr. and Harriet Louise (Hancock) Piepenbrok. Jim grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Franklin Central High School in 1964. In 1968 he earned a BA Degree as a history major from Indiana University in Bloomington.  Jim entered the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, went to Military Intelligence School and Vietnam. He honorably served his country from 1968 to 1970.  He then served in the Army Reserve from 1970 to 1975.
 
Jim attended IU Law School but chose a business career.  He began as a purchasing agent for RCA in Bloomington and then for King Seeley in Kendallville.  He then worked as a sales manager at Lyall Assemblies in Kendallville and finally in sales at Kendallville Custom Printing.  Jim often had side jobs in bookkeeping as well as his final position in public service with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
 
Jim was a member of the Kendallville Elks, the Kendallville Moose and Kendallville Eagles. He was also a member of the Disabled Veterans of America Chapter #43 in Corunna.  Jim was an active member of both the Kendallville VFW Post 2749 and the Kendallville American Legion Post 86 where he was the post commander in 1991 and 1992.  Jim enjoyed sports, travel, reading and collecting.  He treasured his friendships and family and was generous and optimistic.

 
Survivors include:
Sister; Mary Jeanne and Richard Wathen of Trafalgar, Indiana.
Sister; Ruth Ann and Jay Simmons of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Brother; Wayne and Roxann Piepenbrok of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Sister; Donna M. Piepenbrok of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Three nieces, three nephews and several cousins. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece. 


Visitation will be Friday, March 27, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street in Kendallville.  Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.  

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.   Military honors will be provided by the Kendallville VFW Post 2749 and the Rome City American Legion Post 381. 

Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery at a later date in Kendallville.  

Preferred memorials may be made to the veteran or fraternal organization of your choice and the Noble County Community Foundation, 1599 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana 46767.
